Lasting Legacy: Pioneer family seeks street name - billingsgazette.com
Joseph Zimmerman had lived in Billings for nearly 30 years when he decided, in about 1910, to build a trail from the river valley to the top of the Rims, and he did so for two main reasons.
One was that Billings, since the turn of the century, had been growing quickly, away from the railroad in the center of the valley toward the Rims.
Joseph's great-grandson, Don Zimmerman, a Billings native who now lives in Washington state, wrote a report about his family's five generations in the Yellowstone Valley for a History of American Agriculture class at Montana State University in 1974.
