Marilyn Monroe became friendly with Schenck in 1947 was know as one of his "girl friends", although she said the relationship was platonic.
Even after they divorced, Schenck continued to act as Norma Talmadge's financial advisor and guide her business affairs.

Nicholas M. Schenck, born in Rybinsk, Russia on November 14, 1881 - died March 4, 1969 in Florida, was a motion-picture mogul and impresario.
One of seven children, Schenck was born in Rybinsk, a Volga River village in Tsarist Russia.
Schenck's adroit business sense made him a wealthy man. In 1927, he and Joseph were reported to be worth about $20 million (approximately 500 million in today's money, possibly more), with a combined yearly income of at least a million.

Schenck had a soft spot for the Palisades Amusement Park in Fort Lee, N.J., which he bought in 1911 and continued to operate until 1935 in addition to his film activities.
Schenck was a wealthy man. In 1927, he and his brother, between them, were reported to have $20-million, with a combined income of more than $1-million a year.

Joseph Schenck (1982) has compiled the complete text of many of the early documents discussing these finds, and has added some additional observations.
Anthropology Dept. what he made of Alrutz's article, and he sent me a copy of a letter from Wyrick to Joseph Henry, who was then Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, in which Wyrick expressed the fear that perhaps a hoax had been perpetrated upon him with these stones.
A note by Bradley T. Lepper, curator of the Newark Moundbuilders' State Memorial Museum, (1987) refers to the same letter and concludes on the basis of it, with Dancey, that the stones are in fact a hoax perpetrated not by Wyrick, but rather upon him by some unknown person.

Joseph Schenck had set Keaton up in his studio years before and had bankrolled a lot of Keaton's films.
Schenck was one of the last big time independents still working in Hollywood, and there really wasn't anyone else that Keaton could turn to that would put up the money for his movies, and leave him alone to create them.
