Joseph Vance (March 21, 1786 - August 24, 1852) was a Whig politician from Ohio.
Vance ran for governor in 1836 and served a single two-year term, losing a bid for re-election in 1838.
Vance then ran again for the House of Representatives in 1842, and served two more terms there before refusing to run for re-election in 1846.

Vance contributed substantially to the successful performance of the U.S.S. PARROTT in the first engagement of surface forces in the war of the Pacific.
Joseph W. Vance of 1976 Higbee, whose death on the Australian ship, Canberra, in the Solomon Islands Aug. 20 has been confirmed by the war Department, will be held this morning at St. John's Methodist Church by Dr. Albea Godbold.
