Groban has a rich voice that falls somewhere between a low tenor and a high baritone, and Foster has here crafted or commissioned music that will sound classical to the ears of non-classical fans, much of it with lyrics in Italian to complete the effect.
Groban is certainly not to be blamed for taking his chances with Foster instead of staying in college or pursuing a classical career, and his first album is enjoyable even if it doesn't live up to its pretensions.
Josh's voice on the "Prayer" duet was the only good thing about Charlotte Church's album and her voice the only negative item on Josh's.

Powerhouse vocalist Josh Groban may not be all things to all people, but he's certainly many things to many people.
Closer is the second Josh Groban Album I have in my collection, he should not be simply compared to other singers, especially not Westlife, and he certainly should not be assessed on "You Raise Me Up" alone.
Josh Groban may not have the power of a Russell Watson but he has a voice I personally enjoy listening to, If he was to combine the non english tracks from his first album "Josh Groban" with the ones on "Closer" then this would be a 5 star album.
