Topic: Josh Klinghoffer

Shadows Collide with People - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was his fourth solo album and is widely regarded as his most accessible work, featuring an eclectic mix of guitar-driven alternative rock, folk ballads, and electronica.
Omar of the Mars Volta, bandmates Flea and Chad Smith of the Chili Peppers, and Frusciante's friend Josh Klinghoffer all join John on this album.
One noteworthy contribution is Flea playing the upright bass on "The Slaughter", the closing track of the album.

Josh lends us his nearly incomprehensible vocals on this track as well.
Also, the way Josh sings over the 2 parts (though hes very incomprehensible) is amazing, in my opinion.
For starters its too short considering the tracks move slowly as it, and should be atleast double the amount of songs to be really good, and despite being short, some songs could be better "walls".

The second song is called “The World's Edge” and it is a good example of why I think Josh Klinghoffer is the best drummer in the world.
Toward the end and in the second chorus Josh and I played intertwining Johnny Marr type guitar parts through the same amp which causes the two separate parts to be perceived by the ear as one part.
The title “666”, aside from being the name Aleister Crowley often signed letters as, is also a reference to the chorus' three bars of six which are interjected into the otherwise 4/4 feel of the song (something that was unintentional and subconscious).

Entertainment News | Michael Rother, Josh Klinghoffer, John Frusciante
He's been working on collaborations with multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer on a series of solo records; though they've been playing surprise shows as a duo, this was one of the first publicly announced, small-time shows the twosome has been involved in.
Klinghoffer, who's on tour as a guitarist for P.J. Harvey and has also been a sideman for Beck and Jon Brion, proved his percussive chops are as impressive as his guitar leads.
As Frusciante and Rother helixed guitars around hypnotic octave builds, Klinghoffer was often responsible for the rise and fall of the song's arc, blasting through the pre-programmed electronics with loose flashiness.

Cokemachineglow.com - John Frusciante/Eric Klinghoffer: A Sphere in the Heart of Silence
Although Klinghoffer has saddled many instrumental duties on Frusciante’s previous outputs for Record Collection---including joining Fugazi’s Joe Lally and Frusciante for Automatic Writing (2004), the first release from the engaging Ataxia---, this collaboration is the first to feature songs penned and primarily performed by Klinghoffer.
Drenched by Klinghoffer’s digital spring rain, Frusciante bows before puddles of white noise and holds a jittery libation to the guitar gods of Floyd.
The difference is in prominence: when Frusciante and Klinghoffer unleash equally startling monsters from their throat cavities, success follows those songs that don’t temper the beasts with comic-book-sized exclamations or clunking washes of organ.

Klinghoffer has a young, boyish-sounding voice, and while it might not be as strong as Frusciante's, it's clear that he's taken lessons from his collaborator.
It's nice to hear Frusciante take his music in a different direction, and, to be honest, it would be nice if more of his solo work followed the directions he used for this album.
It also shows that Klinghoffer is an artist who has yet to fully blossom--and as such, it's a rewarding work for both men.

John Frusciante calls Sphere in the Heart of Silence, his collaboration with Josh Klinghoffer, "a record of electronic music," but it's not nearly as "electronic" as that statement makes it sound.
It's really more an allusion to the fact that his other releases of this year have been mostly comprised of guitar, bass and drums, and that there is some programming, synth-work and overdubbing on this one.
Both singers have sort of a wailing, cathartic vocal style, which might become a bit much for some listeners by the end of the album.

Inconsistency could be a hallmark of any work crafted in 30 days or less, but Frusciante and Klinghoffer manage almost 40 minutes of textured, ambient music stretched out over seven tracks.
On "Communique," "At Your Enemies" and "Surrogate People"--the disc's more melodic, balanced songs--Klinghoffer's malleable, almost feminine vocals seep into the sonic mix seamlessly, where Frusciante's raspy growls and goofy falsetto sometimes clashes with the drum loops, keyboards and white noise that most of his songs are built upon.
