I think that Ivanka Trump came off surprisingly well--self-aware and as down-to-earth and "normal" as she could be--whereas Josiah Hornblower was majorly medicated, and creepy Cody Franchetti (who makes me never want to buy any products made by these people again) hovered somewhere between vile and loathsome.
I think Hornblower's impediment came from the massive amounts of Xanax coursing through his veins, whereas Newhouse's (God, where do you even BEGIN with that guy?) was really bizarre--it's like he kept needing to stretch his lips over his teeth again and again.

He early studied mathematics and the mechanical sciences, and adopted the profession of civil engineering while associated with his elder brother, then eminent as an engineer, whom he accompanied to Cornwall in 1745 to assist in erecting steam pumping engines.
In 1790 he was appointed judge of the Essex common pleas, and he continued on the bench by reappointment until failing health compelled his retirement.

 Josiah Hornblower (1729 - 1809) - Find A Grave Memorial
He served as a Captain in the New Jersey Militia during the French and Indian War.
Born into a family of distinguished mining engineers, he emigrated to America at the invitation of William Schuyler, and in 1753 built a steam-driven pump for Schuyler's copper mine in the New Jersey Meadowlands near present day Kearny.
The technology involved was a closely-guarded trade secret in Britain, but the 23-year-old Hornblower was able to recreate a similar system from memory and improve upon the design.

 Decatur
Born 3 years apart, both Decatur and Hornblower were naval heros in the eye of the public, fighting in the same wars, albeit on different sides.
The same difference applies to societal and political influence, Decatur enjoyed public esteem and being consulted by politicians, Hornblower was allergic to anything remotely linked to politics and politicians (the fact that Northcote Parkinson made him a member of the house of lords to me seems to be a case of unwarrented extrapolation).
His uncle Josiah, two months later, paid the penalty for having become a gentleman, and died in Baltimore twelve paces from the pistol of another gentleman who had been his friend until the sudden disclosure of a queer scandal.....

That someone on the inside, so to speak, has finally dawned on the idea that wealthy heirs must make use of themselves or be forgotten from history is simply a novelty, not a profundity.
Newhouse IV and Josiah Hornblower, both respective heirs to incredibly historic fortunes, are the most thoughtful and introspective, which does help to balance the utter ridiculousness of the other subjects.
The fact that though most of us may never enjoy the attention of the NY gossip columns, our lives are blessedly free of that kind of superficiality unless, of course, we turn on our televisions and choose to be entertained by the antics of people like this.

Besides the candid, likeable Johnson, coming off best by far is Vanderbilt/Whitney heir Josiah Hornblower, who is both self-aware and considerate and who works a $50,000-per-year job in spite of the million or so dollars he makes in interest every year.
Even the down-to-earth Josiah Hornblower admits that he wouldn't feel comfortable dating outside of his class, imagining the awkwardness of bringing someone to his house for the first time, or having his parents ask, "So, where do you summer?" Obviously, this social isolation is very much the design of these kids' lives.
Then this afternoon in my junk-email box I got a piece of spam with the title, "Paris Hilton is unreal." And you know, she kind of is.
