  JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS
The good news is that Josie and the Pussycats isn't nearly as bad as fellow comic-book-to-film duds Dudley Do-right or The Flintstones.
Enter The Pussycats, a struggling band from Riverdale (it was Midvale in the comic, but who's counting) who perform to unenthusiastic bowlers at the local alley.
But the Pussycats don't realize Frame and his equally diabolical boss, Fiona (Parker Posey, Best in Show), are inserting subliminal messages into their songs.

“Josie and the Pussycats” is another one of those daft cartoon remakes that really has a hard time adjusting to the silver screen.
The cartoon itself wasn’t very original in its conception and this is evident in the silver screen incarnation.
The performances of the Pussycats are daft and uncomplicated and that really bugged me. Alan Cumming is the most memorable as their slick manager but you do have to wonder if he is being type-cast.

Josie and the Pussycats Movie Review by Anthony Leong from MediaCircus.net
As the latest piece of Seventies pop culture to find new life as a motion picture (in the footsteps of "Charlie's Angels"), "Josie and the Pussycats" is a surprisingly enjoyable and irreverent romp through a cynic's view of big music, with more than enough broad appeal to ensure nine lives at the box office.
Josie McCoy (Rachael Leigh Cook of "She's All That") is the lively lead singer-guitarist of the group, Valerie Brown (Rosario Dawson of "Down to You") is the pragmatic bass-player, while Melody Valentine (Tara Reid of "American Pie") is the ditzy blonde drummer.
I wasn't really a big fan of the comic books or the cartoons, and in the wake of other movies based on blasts from the past, such as "The Mod Squad" or "The Flintstones", I was expecting another ill conceived and poorly executed rehash of stale ideas.

Josie and the Pussycats, adapted from the Archie comic series, tries embarrassingly hard to be a rock-and-roll fantasy about an all-girl power-pop punk band from the small town of Riverdale.
Despite discouraging circumstances, Josie (played by rocking Rachael Leigh Cook of She's All That fame) and the Pussycats manage to make the big time, all while resisting temptations that threaten their "friends first" motto.
Wyatt hopes, however, that he won't have to put the Pussycats "to sleep" like he did with his previous proteges, the 'N Sync/Boyz To Men inspired "Du Jour" who were sent down in their private plane when they discovered the subliminal messages in their CD's backing tracks.

 Josie and the Pussycats
Will Josie and the Pussycats single-handedly be responsible for the downfall of American culture, or will they shed all the excess baggage and keep on rockin' in the free world?
Tara Reid steals the show as Melody, the ditsy, dim-witted sweetheart whose lack of intelligence only adds to her endearing (and downright sexy) charm, while Alan Cumming and Parker Posey are obviously having a blast as the evil music executives who want to take over the world (then again, don't they all?).
The bottom line is this: "Josie and the Pussycats" blends elements of "That Thing You Do," "Spice World," and "Charlie's Angels" to end up as a pleasant surprise (and the music is pretty good, too!).
