Josif Runjanin (Serbian Cyrillic: Јосиф Руњанин; Croatian: Josip Runjanin; December 8, 1821–February 2, 1878) was a Serb Frontiersman and composer (most notably composing the music for the Croatian national anthem).
Josif composed the music for his patriotic Croatian song Lijepa naša domovina in 1848, although this Croatian Anthem would be first played in the streets of Zagreb in 1891 during the Croatian-Slavonian exhibit, so both achieved only post-mortal fame.
After retirement, Josif moved to Novi Sad where he died at the age of 57 on 2 February of 1878 and was buried according to the Orthodox tradition at the Cemetery of the Holy Ascent (Uspensko groblje) in Novi Sad where he remains to this very day.

In this new situation the synod elected the Metropolitan of Skopje, Josif Cvijovic, to deputize for Patriarch Gavrilo in the territory of Serbia.
Through Metropolitan Josif, who kept in touch with Patriarch Gavrilo, and was his close co-operator, the Patriarch sent a message that, due to the new situation, everything should be done to normalize Orthodox matters in the new Croatian State.

Josip Runjanin: Croatia - Lijepa nasa domovino (Piano with lyrics)
The official name of the anthem is not "Horvatska domovina" [Croatian Homeland] as the title of the original poem would imply, but rather "Lijepa nasa" [Our Beautiful], and was taken from the first two words of the poem.
The music score was written later (1840s) by Josip (also, Josif) Runjanin, a Croatian Serb, on the basis of Donizetti's "O sole piu ratto" from the opera "Lucia di Lammermoor".
