Joss Ackland CBE (born February 29, 1928) is an English actor who has appeared in more than 130 films in his career.
Ackland appears in the Pet Shop Boys' 1987 film It Couldn't Happen Here, and in the video for their cover version of the song Always On My Mind, which was taken from the film.
Ackland and his wife Rosemary were married for 51 years until her death from motor-neuron disease in 2002.

Joss Ackland, the distinguished English actor who has appeared in over one hundred movies, scores of plays, and a plethora of television programs in his six-decade career, was born Sidney Edmond Jocelyn Ackland on February 29, 1928 in North Kensington, London.
In 1955, Ackland left the English stage behind and moved to Africa to manage a tea plantation, an experience that likely informed his heralded performance twenty years later in White Mischief (1987).
On December 31, 2000, Joss Ackland was named a Commander of the British Empire on the New Year's Honours List for his 50 years of service to the English stage, cinema and television.

I’ll Be There is probably destined to be known as The Charlotte Church Movie in the same way that Crossroads became The Britney Spears Movie.
The film also explicitly exploits her singing talents and she gets to sing a variety of things from arias to modern pop ‘choons’ to standards — her rendition of ‘Summertime’ is likely to raise a tear or two.
There’s good support, too, particularly from Joss Ackland as her rockabilly grandfather (his gigs are a highlight) and Ralph Brown as Kerr’s Aussie mate.
