The last sections of the book provide great notes on Jovian Chronicles campaign creation, as well as a fantastic campaign push start via the JSS Valiant.
If any of the campaign or rules sounds interesting to you, do not worry about the cost, either is worth the expense in the case of Jovian Chronicles.

The mistrust between the Jovian Confederation and CEGA is not the only source of tension around, y'know.
Given that Jovian Chronicles does its best to remain real and plausible, the books that were researched for this material are recommended reading.
Any player who enjoys the "hard" sci-fi of Jovian Chronicles will possibly have read some of the fiction listed here, but it is still a good list of future reads.

Jovian Chronicles is indeed a very good setting - it has a fully colonized solar system on the brink of war, and is quite realistic (apart from the mecha and the fast travelling times).
Jovian Chronicles is part of the Silhouette System by DP9 (ie, their version of BRP or d20), and isn't obscure.
I believe that all of the rules covered in the old rulebook and companion are covered in the new silhouette core and jovian chronicles.

The wormhole and Poseidon would be discovered at the same time that the rest of the Jovian Chronicles solar system was being explored and exploited.
If you wanted to keep the Jovian Chronicles setting intact, than Poseidon would probably have to be substantially changed in order to support the more conflicted state "back home".
The clues I've seen dropped in Lightning Strike are that the Confed is responsible for the "Edicts Wars", and the Jovians are most definitely first in line for chucking the Edicts out the window (as well as the Venusians, although they may not be so overt about it as a lot of Jovians would).

For the most part, the idea is not to recreate every element in both settings...really, it's to inject Poseidon into the Jovian Chronicles universe while still maintaining the feel of Poseidon as it exists in Blue Planet.
A small problem remains though...with the Jovians hanging out in the outer Solar System, with nearly a century jump in space technologies over a struggling Earth, it is not likely that CEGA/GEO would rediscover the wormhole first.
Imagine the sight of hundreds of empty colony cylinders near Jupiter and the Trojans as the Jovians emigrate enmasse to the water world.
