		In 1981, Fredriksson sang for the first time with Gyllene Tider and was featured as a background vocalist for a Swedish-language album the band released in 1982 and for a Swedish-language solo album Gessle released in 1983.
		According to liner notes written by Gessle on a 1990 re-issue of the album, the group's first English-language release was in response to interest expressed by Capitol Records, an American label affiliated with Gyllene Tider's parent EMI Group.
		The Billboard Hot 100 singles and Billboard 200 album charts were showing an increasing dominance toward the end of 1991 by new or emerging genres such as new jack soul and grunge.

		The album is only available on vinyl and it was released in a few European countries during the spring of 1987, but in 1995 an unofficial bootleg CD was issued.
		The CD and cassette of 'Joyride' includes 3 bonus tracks (missing on the LP) of which one, 'Soul deep', is a partly re-recorded version of the song with new guitars, bass and a new mix compared to the version inclided on the band's debut album 'Pearls of Passion'.
		The album was recorded at EMI Studios in Stockhom, at Mayfair Studios in London, at Capri Digital Studios in Isola Di Capri and at Tits & Ass Studio in Halmstad between February 1993 and January 1994.

		The same year an American exchange student brought the album to his hometown Minneapolis and the biggest radiostation there and urges them to listen to "The Look" and suddenly the Roxette had a hit single in the US.

		Album opener "Joyride" could cave in the skull of any metalhead, yet at the same time please the prog-fans looking for complexity over heaviness.
		Everyone warned me that I would not like this album after I told them how much I enjoyed "For Madmen Only." I was told by several people that it wasn't their best cd and that it was to 'alternative' sounding.
		On first listen I thought to myself, "this is a really good disc, I don't see what's so 'alternative' about it." I hear more of a Led Zeppelin meets King's X vibe going on here.

		And this album features none less than 8 of them - of which at least 7 of them are at least as good as any of their earlier love songs!
		however, the more i listen to this album the songs that really stand out for me are "i was so lucky", "beautiful things", "7 twenty 7" and the ever infectious, album opening "crush on you".

		album paints a scene where there are so many apples falling from the sky, everyone tries to find uses for them, and ultimately what are we going to do with all of these fresh apples?
		It is part of the experience, and strange enough to inspire the only actual dark song on the album.

	Don't Bore Us Get to the Chorus : Roxette's Greatest Hits
		All the wonderful songs are included in this must-have compilation: the major US number one hit singles It Must Have Been Love (from the Pretty Woman soundtrack), The Look (their first big break in North America), and Listen To Your Heart (a beautiful chart topping ballad).
