Legislative Yuan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Legislative Yuan is one of the five branches (called 'yuàn', "courts") of government stipulated by the ROC Constitution, which follows the San-min Chu-i (political theory of Sun Yat-sen).
The first Legislative Yuan was to have been elected for a term of three years ending in 1951; however, the fall of the Mainland made it impossible to hold new elections.
The original members of the Legislative Yuan remained until December 31, 1991, when as part of subsequent Judicial Yuan ruling, they were forced to retire and the members elected in 1989 remained until the 161 members of the Second Legislative Yuan was elected in December 1992.

ROC legislative election, 2004 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Legislative Yuan (第六屆立法委員選舉) of the Republic of China on Taiwan was held on December 11, 2004.
Most Western observers have stated that this was intended as a harsh measure to counteract an expected pan-Green coalition victory, but that when the election results were unexpectedly favorable to the PRC, that the planning for the law had been too far advanced to stop completely.
In the 5th Legislative Yuan (2002–2005), the opposition pan-blue coalition held a narrow majority, resulting in much of Government sponsored bills being deadlocked or heavily amended.
