Judy was waaaay more interesting as Florence in Chess, a much more bad-assed female lead role; one that gets both solos and an opinion and doesn't need a happy ending or a man to keep her singing.
Judy is actually the only Cosette I've been able to stand through the years.
Judy was darling tonight in the Sondheim birthday concert, singing Petra in "A Weekend in the Country"--I wish they had let her sing "The Miller's Son."

judy kuhn cabaret review - jc   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
But Judy Kuhn, the Broadway singer who has appeared in "Chess," "Les Misirables" and "She Loves Me," did exactly that in her revelatory cabaret debut at the Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center on Saturday evening.
Kuhn, who performed with a pop-jazz trio led by the pianist Jeffrey Klitz, has a clear sweet voice with a slightly metallic edge that she flexes along a stylistic continuum that runs from Laura Nyro to Betty Buckley, while shying away from their dramatic extremes.
Kuhn found every psychological nuance in the feverish meditation of a boy-crazy teenager who fantasizes about becoming pregnant and whose rebellious attitude fuels some bitter cross-fire between her indulgent father and puritanical mother.

Finding Home: Judy Kuhn in Concert
Judy Kuhn, who closes the current Cabaret at the Prince season, brings to the party a number of qualities we don¹t usually associate with the genre.
Finally, Kuhn's voice is luxury indeed -- one of the most prodigiously gifted singers around, she moves effortlessly from a powerful lower range to soprano sweetness (though on this occasion the very top notes sounded a trifle dry), and she can croon or belt with equal aplomb.
Though Kuhn is an experienced theater actress, in this context (and at this point in her career) she scores most of her points vocally.

Judy Kuhn for being the amazing woman and talent that she is. I owe her my life, literally and will forever wish I could repay her for that.

Also, thanks for making me come to Judy's defense all those years ago when we first met and you were upset about the Sunset Blvd recording.

Playbill Celebrity Buzz: DIVA TALK: Judy Kuhn's Songbook Debut; Five Year Thoughts and More
Although Kuhn didn't offer any of her own theatre "hits," she did perform several songs by theatre writers, including two Harold Arlen classics, "Any Place I Hang My Hat Is Home" and "Come Rain or Come Shine." The charming Kuhn seems a bit less comfortable on these jazzier standards than she does on the ballads.
Kuhn also offered a particularly sweet rendition of Adam Guettel's "Baby Moon," which was first recorded by Tony winner Audra McDonald.
Kuhn prefaced the song with a story about her seven-year-old daughter who, as a baby, often screamed when her mother tried to sing her a lullaby ("The higher I sang," Kuhn explained, "the louder she creamed.").
