Computers By Tandon - New York Times
The Tandon Corporation, a maker of computer disk drives that reported a $135 million loss last year, said it would seek a way out of its difficulties by selling its own brand of personal computers in the United States before the year is out.
Details of Tandon's move into the bitterly competitive business of selling computers have yet to be worked out, and the plan, which has not been publicly announced, emerged in recent interviews with executives at the company's headquarters in Chatsworth, a suburb of Los Angeles.
Tandon said the computers would be at the higher end of the market, aiming for business customers.
