Juhu Aerodrome (IATA: N/A, ICAO: VAJJ) located in Mumbai, was India's first civil aviation airport opening in 1928 as the then Vile Parle Flying Club.
Juhu has one runway (08/26, 3750 ft/1143 m) and is run by the Airports Authority of India.
The airfield is located at Juhu, an upmarket residential suburb of northwest Bombay flanking the city's famed Juhu Beach along the Arabian sea.

Juhu, today is one of the most important places in Bombay.
The cross on the side of S.V. Road was moved beside the road by the BMC in 2005, inspite of the fact that the cross had most right of being there (in middle of the road) than most, as it being in that location predates records itself.
It is a possibility that the East Indians of Juhu, were originally from Marol, who moved during a major epidemic centuries ago, however this view is not shared by many since it dates to much back in time.

 Budget airlines to get separate terminal
The civil aviation ministry is planning to dedicate a separate terminal building for low-cost carriers at Delhi airport and efforts are on to create more space for them in Mumbai by shifting operations of small aircraft to Juhu aerodrome.
He said helicopter operations have been moved out to Juhu, general aviation (small aircraft movement) would also be shifted to Juhu as improved air traffic control management systems have been put in place.
On the development of Delhi airport, he said a futuristic terminal would be built to handle 80 million traffic by 2025.

All small aircraft flying into or taking off, from Mumbai, will soon be using the Juhu aerodrome, as against the domestic airport at Santacruz.
Aloke Chatterjee, senior manager (Aerodrome), Juhu Airport said that while the proposal would generally ease congestion at the Santacruz airport, it would also have other benefits.
To make the shift possible, the Juhu aerodrome would be given a complete makeover.

A four-seater beachcraft plane with five passengers on board crash landed at the Juhu aerodrome in the north-western suburban Mumbai Friday.
"The airplane owned by a private company which was going to Vadodara from Mumbai, took off from the Juhu airport and soon developed some radio communication problem.
The pilot decided to return to the airport but the plane tilted while landing and crashed," said a Juhu airport official.

Union workers of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation surrounded Petroleum Minister Ram Naik as soon as he arrived at the Juhu aerodrome on Monday to take stock of the situation following the crash of a chopper off the Mumbai coast.

 Hi-tech rain radar to be put up in Juhu
The government has at last found a place to install a Doppler Vader radar, which can predict rain 12 hours in advance and prevent a reoccurance of last year’s floods.
The BMC, with help of the met department, will be installing the radar at the 2,000-sq-m Juhu Aerodrome.
The radar, which is connected to a super computer, has to be installed in an area with plenty of open space.
