Juiblex is at the exact centre of the map; three lemures occupy the large island on the centre-right of the map above, and all but (a random) one of the marked fountains are actually giant mimics masquerading as fountains.

The Valley of the Dead counts as Gehennom, and so does Juiblex's level (despite being watery and not looking as hellish as the rest), but Vlad's Tower does not.
You should have all the resistances by this stage, but fire resistance is particularly important.
In Slash'EM, the Valley of the Dead can be quite nasty, thanks to high-level spellcasters such as vampire mages who can summon hordes and wake up all the monsters on the level.

Ughrot has carved a vast network of tunnels in the compacted, nearly solid layers of garbage and it is here that the abominable creature holds court.
There is an ample bounty of edibles to dine on within easy reach, for Ughrot is surrounded by a virtual feast of dung, rotting vegetation and numerous corpses of all manner of creatures including humans.
Ughrot has truly been blessed by Juiblex and is imbued with many strange and terrible powers.

In most situations, Juiblex will select bestow curse or contagion.
On rare occasions, Juiblex will call on five Hezrou Demons.

The plant creature (Arbutos) was able to assimilate the Juiblex creature (like Pdude ate Nabassa) and derives strength from holding the extraplanar captive.
Commune with nature confirms the presence of evil extraplanars in the valley, which is probably what Silv detected on her det evil.
It's unclear who released the Juiblex creature in the first place -- did the druids release the creature with a plan to assimilate it for energy or did they step in after the creature was released?

If engulfed, zap the wand of digging, kill Juiblex (it will have one HP left), and cure the sickness.
I also battled Juiblex from the outside - didn't take too long to go down (about three rounds of melee) and no illness.
Cross the level in a safe manner - levitation is a good choice, the up stairs are on the right side of the level, the down stairs on the left.

I went to several Southwest Regionals when they were held at the Buckeye, AZ airport and tried flying Hand Launch gliders, an A-2 (the Volare), and a P-30 (the Juiblex).
