Julia Quinn has been one of my favourite authors for sometimes, and I have adored her work, never missing one of her novels.
Quinn is a beautiful writer, it's a shame she is not writing for the love of the story and characters, but for 'lets sell them around around of the same'.
Julia Quinn doing what she does at her best - an enjoyable, fast paced bodice-ripper - the heroine is the overlooked sister (who has a secret life as a gossip writer), the hero is the brother of her friend (also with hidden depths) who looks beneath the drab surface to find the diamond beneath.

Julia also did some work with the Ray Ward Trio, building her confidence and one of their gigs was even recorded for BBC Radio 2 ("There’s supposed to be a recording of it but I’ve never had a copy!" says Julia).
Julia still found time before the wedding to do some backing vocals on friend Jane's second album, (Listen to track - ‘Never thought it was love’).

ALL ABOUT ROMANCE (novels) reviews Minx by Julia Quinn
Julia Quinn writes wonderfully witty, sexy books that work best when there isn't a plot, or a traditional "villain." That's why Splendid is one of my all-time keepers.
Readers of Quinn's earlier books already know he is an unconventional man (a friend of women) of great humor, but he really comes into his own in this story.
I was a bit perturbed that this portion of the book is as long as it is. As I said, I enjoy Julia Quinn's writing best when it is light, funny, and sexy.

I have been reading Julia Quinn since her first book came out, and unless she has a stroke or a total brain malfunction, her's will continue to be books that I snatch off the shelf the moment an unfamiliar title appears.
Julia Quinn's "Splendid" features Alex, the dashingly roguish Duke of Ashbourne and Emma, the flame-haired American beauty who captured the duke's heart and soul.
Quinn kept her characters appearing in some of the other series, like Alex, who was briefly mentioned in one of the Bridgerton books.

Perhaps, when compared to previous Julia Quinn novels, this book doesn't leave much of her trademark wit and banter, but it allows Quinn to bring more serious matters to the forefront.
Quinn's talented writing is effective when it comes to matters such as these, after all, it's a story of dealing with life's problems.

Ms Quinn has made it clear that the Bridgertons are so lovable, even the Pope would consider papal discharge if he ever comes across one of those ladies.
As a result, I can't help thinking that it is Julia Quinn that forces them to get over themselves instead of the characters actually wising up and moving on.
I hope that Julia Quinn finds a way to do both humor and drama with equal flair soon, because when she's at her best, her upbeat and infectious way with words and characters make her stories uniquely hers even if her own publishing house is nurturing imitators every month to cash in on her success.
