Julie Stoffer had planned to take United Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to Los Angeles on Tuesday but changed her mind early that morning – just hours before the plane was hijacked and crashed into the World Trade Center in New York.
Julie Stoffer was a particularly well-known "Real World" cast member, in part because she was a practicing Mormon, a faith that is arguably at odds with the racy program.
Stoffer was suspended from BYU after her MTV stint because she lived under the same roof with six strangers -- four of whom were men -- therefore breaking the school's honor code.

Julie A. Stoffer (born July 11, 1979) was a cast member on MTV's reality television series The Real World: New Orleans, the ninth season of The Real World series.
On the series, Stoffer was depicted as a naive girl who knew little about life beyond her Latter-day Saint upbringing Wisconsin (she had attended Brigham Young University for a year prior to the show).
Stoffer was scheduled to be on board of one of the two planes that crashed into the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, but cancelled due to a conflict in scheduling and opted to take a different flight instead.

At the end of the season, when Julie wanted to return to BYU to finish her education, she was informed that she was suspended because she had chosen to be on the TV show.
Those who watched the show, and perhaps what made it so interesting, was watching Julie as she experienced things that her parents and her religion had sheltered her from all of these years.
They were afraid that Julie would see the world on the other side of the Mormon curtain.
