Rafael married Catalina Roldan and had two sons and a daughter, whom he named Violeta and to whom he officially dedicated the danza.
Rafael was named conductor of the ROTC band of the University of Puerto Rico which in 1946, included a young man by the name of Julito Rodriguez, who would some day in the future become a renowned musician himself.
Rafael became the first Puerto Rican to compose the music score for a Hollywood movie, when he was hired for such a task for the 1956 movie "Crowded Paradise", directed by Fred Pressburger.

To the relief of his father, Javier hung up his boxing gloves and began his career as a singer.

One fortuitous night, singers Julito Rodriguez and Alfredo Gil of the famed Trio Los Panchos (see entry) heard Solis, then going by the name Javier Luquin.
In short order, Solis then took his stage name of Javier Solis, signed a one-year contract with CBS and cut his first record in 1950.

Born in 1926 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Luis Felipe Rodríguez Quiñones started his musical career by performing with various musical groups he helped to form: a duo with Julito Rodríguez and a trio called “Los Tres Romanceros”, together with Julito and Sotero Collazo.
In 1950, he left these groups to form another trio called Los Carpios, that was later known as Los Antares.
