  Lederer, Julius
Samuel Lederer came to this country in 1850 and settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he resided a short time but later located in New York City, where he was married in 1852, his wife having come to the United States in 1849.
A public school pupil in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Julius Lederer afterward worked in a drug store, and for three years he was employed in a confectionery store, subsequent to which time he assisted his father in the tannery.
Lederer was married to Miss Martha Fosner, a native of that city, and they now have four sons.

William Julius Lederer (born 1912) was an American author, US Naval Academy graduate in 1936, and Cold warrior.
Disillusioned with the style and substance of America's diplomatic efforts in Southeast Asia, Lederer and Burdick openly sought to demonstrate their belief that American officials and civilians could make a substantial difference in Southeast Asian politics if they were willing to learn local languages, follow local customs and employ regional military tactics.
William Lederer rose to the rank of Navy Captain, one rank higher than listed above (Commander).

Budget Rent a Car is a car rental company that was founded in 1958 in Los Angeles, California by Morris Mirkin.
He was joined in 1959 by Julius Lederer (husband of Ann Landers), and in 1960 the headquarters was moved to Chicago, Illinois.
The company was eventually acquired by Transamerica Corporation, and then sold in 1986 in a leveraged buyout by Gibbons, Green and van Amerongen Ltd., along with management and selected investors.

In 1973, Julius ("Dr. J") Erving (left, #32) floated back to New York -- his hometown -- and kindled nationwide interest in the red, white and blue league.
Also, a blockbuster trade with the Virginia Squires brought Julius ("Dr. J") Erving, the best player in the ABA, to the Nets.
Julius Erving (#32, above left) won the ABA MVP award that year (his first year with the Nets).

Anna Rosenberg was born in 1902, in Budapest, Hungary, to Charlotte and Albert Lederer.
Her mother was a talented author and illustrator of children's books and her father was a successful furniture manufacturer.

Lederer won a Lifetime Achievement award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association in 1989, and in 1990 was named International Punster of the Year by the International Save the Pun Foundation of Toronto.

They settled in the Bronx borough of New York City in 1912 and in 1919, she became a naturalized American citizen and married Julius Rosenberg.
