Jamnagar district lies between 21 47' and 22 57' north latitude and 68 57' and 70 37' west longitude in the peninsular region in the northwest, in the state of Gujarat India, known as Kathiawar or Saurashtra.
The population of the district according to the 1961 census was 828,419 of which 4,24,300 were males and 4,04,119 females.
