I was aware of the english texts which mention flexibility and junan taiso but I want to get the origins and schools associated with it as I believed there was more to it than bending over in the splits and butterfly poistion.
I have a seminar coming up this weekend where the instructor will go over Junan Taiso on both days and I have some good leads from this discussion to ask some questions.

I've been trying to find the kanji for both "Junan Taiso" and "Junbi Undo" (as in the various warming up and stretching exercises used before class).
Junan Taiso I would interpret as "stretching in preparation to do something with the body".
I really enjoy it, it prepares my mind for the training and is a good way to relax and take my mind off of my hectic day.

Sorry, I don't know much Japanese, and for the time being, I can only learn from books and videos.
I know in Junan Taiso, that "Taiso" is body conditioning or something to that effect.
One translation for junan is the adjective 'flexible'.

As always, especially when there are lulls in regular training, I hope that those who train with me are continuing to train on there own.
Junan taiso, ukemi, sanshin no gata and the koshi sanpo no kamae whould be the main emphasis of solo-training and I have been working diligently on these things as well.
I look forward to returning to the dojo and practicing with those who are true friends!
