As I strolled into the Junction Oval during the week to watch Victoria take on Queensland, I couldn't help but think back to my first season with the Vics.
It was 1990-91, when the picturesque Junction Oval was our home base, ironically due to the building of the MCG's Great Southern Stand.
Did they enjoy their day in the sun at the Junction Oval or would they have preferred to have been watching at the 'G? Domestic cricket needs to be taken to the people and the picnic atmosphere at the Junction Oval this week was fantastic for all concerned.

Officially known as the St Kilda Cricket Club Ground, the Junction Oval has been home of three VFL/AFL clubs: St. Kilda 1897-1915 and 1918-1941, South Melbourne (now Sydney Swans) 1944-1946, and Fitzroy (now Brisbane Lions) 1897 - 1966.
As well as three main grandstands and undercover standing room, there was a large hill on the outer wing.
