Junction points are also referred to as reparse points (directory junctions and volume mount points).
A junction point is a physical location on a hard disk that points to data that is located elsewhere on your hard disk or on another storage device.
Junctions graft the namespace (any bounded area in which a specific name can be resolved) of the destination file system location to an NTFS volume.

NTFS junction point - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In computing, an NTFS junction point (JP) is a type of NTFS reparse point in the NTFS file system.
Junction Points can be used in a similar way to symbolic links — allowing the creation of a link to a folder that is, for most intents and purposes, the same as the folder itself.
By setting a JP that points to a directory containing a particular version of a piece of software, you can, in most cases, seamlessly add another version of the software and redirect the JP to point to the version you wish to use.

 Junction Link Magic
Junction Link Magic (734 kB - Windows 2000/XP/2003) is a utility that lets you create junction points with Windows 2000, XP, or 2003.
A junction point (also known as a reparse point) is a technology for a folder to be grafted into another folder on the same local computer.
Junction points can only be created on volumes formatted with NTFS 5.0 or higher.

Josh's Windows Weblog : Windows Vista Junction Points
Junction points are an important part of the application compatibility story for Windows Vista, but you probably didn’t know it.
These junction points make it so that hard coded reads and writes to legacy file locations would automatically go to the correct new location without changing the application.
Knowing about junction points will be very important both from an application troubleshooting and an evaluation standpoint.

How to create and manipulate NTFS junction points
By using junction points, you can graft a target folder onto another NTFS folder or "mount" a volume onto an NTFS junction point.
Put all your junction points in a secure location in a namespace where you can test them out in safety, and where other users will not mistakenly delete them or walk through them.
NTFS junction points are similar to the junction points in DFS because both are tools that are used to graft storage namespaces together.

 Kirchhoff's rules
The sum of all the currents entering any junction point is equal to the sum of all the currents leaving that junction point.
As we have already remarked, if this were not the case then charge would build up at the junction points, violating our fundamental steady-state assumption.
The currents flowing around a general dc circuit can always be found by applying Kirchhoff's first rule to all junction points, Kirchhoff's second rule to all loops, and then solving the simultaneous algebraic equations thus obtained.

The junctions can eliminate or minimize the requirement for stacking 200A taps on 600A elbows and provide an ideal solution for confined space installations.
Junction points can also be used for arrester locations.

This assumption, for images where the distances between matching points are small relative to the distance from the camera, may lead to high sensitivity in the 1/Z term to small perturbations, since Z is large.
We know that each junction point is associated with the intersection of two lines -- we note their slopes, and see which of the three slopes the lines of the point are associated with.

A 10.sup.k resistance decade module refers to an electrical device with two identified terminal points between which the 10.sup.k decade of resistance values can be formed by the setting of a switch.
A resistance decade box is typically constructed of a 10.sup.0, a 10.sup.1, a 10.sup.2, a 10.sup.3, a 10.sup.4, and a 10.sup.5 resistance decade module, the terminal points of which are all wired in series.
The terminal points on these digit setting switches are wired in series with the extreme terminals connected to P1 and P2.

junctioning, allows volumes to be joined together so that they appear as subdirectories in one file system regardless of their physical location.
When a junction is created, the Volume Location Database (VLDB) assigns the junction a unique ID, which is automatically stored in the VLDB and also in the corresponding NDS Volume object.
In the end, the junction appears to the user as a new subdirectory and its contents include the entire volume that the junction points to.

 NTFS Reparse Points
Junction Points: A junction point is similar to a symbolic link, but instead of redirecting access from one file to another, it redirects access from one directory to another.
Volume Mount Points: A volume mount point is like a symbolic link or junction point, but taken to the next level: it is used to create dynamic access to entire disk volumes.
For example, you can create volume mount points for removable hard disks or other storage media, or even use this feature to allow several different partitions (C:, D:, E: and so on) to appear to the user as if they were all in one logical volume.

Junction (rail) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A junction, in the context of rail transport, is a place at which two or more rail routes converge or diverge.
In this latter case, the three points of the triangle may be given different names, for example using points of the compass as well as the name of the overall place.
The capacity of a railway junction can be increased with improved signalling measures, by building points suitable for higher speeds, or by turning level junctions into flying junctions.

The major cue to occlusion is the analysis of binocular junction points which were introduced to the vision community by Malik [9].
This work is extended, so that junction points can be represented for arbitrary projective cameras, and using this representation, a new constraint, the trifocal junction point constraint will be presented.
These junctions are formed by the intersection of any two lines in the image, and this will lead to a pseudo-junction planarity constraint whereby planar surfaces in an image can be detected using only two matched lines.

Hardlinks and Junction points on Win2K - MozillaZine Forums
Windows 2000 doesn't have the necessary kit to create reparse points (on which junctions are based) out of the box, but there are freeware utilites that will do the job perfectly, like this one.
Be careful not to delete the junction point using the DEL command or Windows Explorer, or chaos will start to break out.
However, whilst with a hardlink, a file is not deleted until all the hardlinks are gone, with a junction, the files are gone as soon as the junction point is deleted, and all your junctions that pointed there will be left dangling.

Three-Arm Poly(dimethylsiloxane) Junction Bearing a Single Pendant Dansyl Group: A Model Architecture for Polymer ...
We report on the activation energies for dansyl thermal quenching and rotational reorientation and the dansyl residue's ability to reorient and precess at the junction point.
In normal liquids a decrease in solvent quality leads to a collapse of the junction's PDMS arms around the dansyl reporter group, an inhibition of the dansyl residue's ability to form its twisted intramolecular charge transfer state, and impedance of the dansyl residue's ability to reorient.
When the junction is dissolved in neat methyl-terminated PDMS, there is evidence for chain-length-dependent interpenetration of the PDMS "solvent" molecules into the junction and modulation of the local microenvironment surrounding the dansyl residue at the junction.

Circuit arrangement for generating an output signal that is nonlinearly dependent on the temperature - Patent 4873490
A circuit arrangement as defined in claim 2, further comprising a summing operational amplifier having its inverting input connected to the connection point of said coupling circuit of the two coupling resistors to produce at its output a modified signal which is both non-linearly and linearly dependent on temperature.
The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for generating a signal that is non-linearly dependent on temperature and having a temperature-dependent resistor bridge circuit connected between two power-supply lines.
This provision has the effect that the potential of the voltage at the junction point of the resistors R1, R2 is approximately linearly dependent on the temperature, while the potential at the junction point of the resistors R6, R9 is approximately quadratically dependent on the temperature.
