On August 19, 1945, Allyson caused Hollywood studio chiefs some consternation by marrying Dick Powell, who was 13 years her senior and had been previously married to Mildred Maund and Joan Blondell.
Allyson counter-charged that Ingels was harrassing her with dozens of phone calls daily and nightly.

June accepted the part, and it was during the run of this show that MGM executives were so impressed with the show, they bought it up and moved the cast to Hollywood to star in the movie version.
In 1959, June became one of the first top motion picture stars to have her own weekly television show, "The Dupont Show with June Allyson." The show was a weekly anthology drama series hosted by and occasionally starring June and a succession of other important performers.
June is also the proud grandmother of Richard Logan Powell, born to her son in the summer of 1984.

June Allyson plays his incredibly supportive and understanding wife, and Harry Morgan is his lifelong best friend (and piano player).
The on-screen chemistry between Allyson (Helen Miller) and Stewart (Glenn Miller) is first rate, and Harry Morgan's "Chummy MacGregor" characterization is the ideal sidekick for this type of movie (highly inaccurate, but flattering to his subject).
