Junee is a small town and Local Government Area near central New South Wales, Australia, in the Riverina District, approximately 470 km southwest of Sydney and 250 km northwest of Canberra.
While it was initially a pastoral lease, Junee grew as a town during the gold rushes that took place in the area from mid 1860 to mid 1880.
This period saw Junee accept that income from the railways was on the decline and that growth was going to come from diverse areas.

There are two metal plaques (photos provided) attached to a large rock within the cemetery with a list of 44 pioneer names and their families believed to be interred in the cemetery or nearby from 1862 to 1881.
The cemetery is located just past the Old Junee Cemetery and about 0.3 kilometres to the left from the main road from Wagga Wagga to Temora.
He died on the 24th June, 1863 and was buried on the 26th June, 1863.
