One of the few legitimately true Funklords in music history, Junie’s talents and versatily are showcased nowhere better than on “The Westbound Years”, a super tight collection culled from his three studio albums in the mid 70s for the label.
Junie lives in a world where hard rock guitar vamping comes face- to-face with classical strings and soaring orchestral horn charts as on cuts like ‘The Place’ and ‘When We Do’.

Relying on the same players, from Junie Morrison to Eddie Hazel to Bootsy, the album's cuts are like little rock operas – tiny, funny musicals.
The best cut, "Quickie," kicks off like a heavy-metal anthem, then tells on a girl who "likes to spread her love around....All she wanted was a quickie." Clinton wags a disapproving finger at this casual sex, but the track just bubbles along on the back of Junie Morrison's synthesizer.

The album features music from George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Junie Morrison, Mutiny (Jerome Bailey), Philippe Wynne, and Bootsy Collins one-off productions, Sweat Band & Mico Wave.
The mix of funk on Six Degrees of P-Funk goes as deep as 1979 on the Mutiny's two contributions: 'Lump' and 'Funk N Bop.' In fact, these two oldest songs are by far the funkiest and most appealing songs on the album.
Philippe Wynne shines on the 1980 fast-lipped R&B meets funk 'Never Gonna Tell It.' Junie Morrison's 'Rappin About Rappin' is lyrically simple, but this Sugarhill Gang parody is still appealing.
