Junnar is a city in the Pune district of the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Junnar is also famous for its Ganesh decorations during the Ganesh festival, being sometimes compared with the decorations in Pune and Mumbai during the festival.
Junnar is also surrounded by much greenery and dams, such as Vadaj and Manikdoh, common picnicing locations.

The Maharashtra State Forest Department trapped yet another panther, its 101st in Junnar region from the Rajgurunagar taluka in the district.
During 2002-03, around 20 people were attacked, of which 11 people died and approximately 189 cattle were lifted by panthers, for which a compensation of around Rs 2.16 lakh was given.
In addition, the forest department has placed 81 cages in Junnar and neighbouring Rajgurunagar and Narayangaon talukas to trap panthers to avoid further conflict, especially during the sugarcane harvesting season.
