  Juno Awards
In 1970, upon the discovery that Juno had been a chief goddess of the Roman pantheon, the spelling was changed permanently to 'Juno.' The Juno Awards have often been described as the Canadian equivalent of the (US) Grammy awards.
Thereafter CARAS, formed expressly for the purpose, became the governing body of the awards, and voting was reserved primarily for CARAS members.
Specific award categories and their descriptions have varied from year to year so as to reflect changes and developments in the music industry.

The Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent to a Grammy) were handed out this past weekend in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The Juno's lack of elegance was as obvious as an Oscar nominee arriving for the red carpet in a taxicab.
This year's awards were still a great improvement on the past year, boasting a major-name host in Shania Twain and a very impressive collection of Canadian talent.

I get that the Juno Awards need to maximize their exposure and rentability across the board but no consumer is so patriotic or dim as to believe that this CD is a must buy item.
She doesn't even show up at the awards ceremony so why should we give her a track on the album when there were so many other good artists that could have been added to this compilation instead of her.

It was a good year for the awards though, and that's obvious by all the worthwhile winners.
It's nice that not all the awards are in one night, but maybe it would be better if it was more of an award show, rather than an award show that has more performances than awards.
It's about the Junos people, you want the country to be excited about these statues, so make each award dazzling when you give it out, not stuporous.

ICM Newsletter vol. 1, no. 2: The Juno Awards 2003
While positioning itself as the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy awards, the Juno Awards ceremony of CARAS (the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) is truly a celebration of English-language mainstream popular music artists.
In the old days, Juno Awards were seldom given to such artists, whose career is largely carried on abroad, but that rule no longer holds.
But in the meantime he, and the artists he manages, and for that matter the Juno Awards, are cashing in while the going is good.
