Jurassic Park III - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jurassic Park III is a 2001 motion picture, and a sequel of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and the highly successful original Jurassic Park.
Unlike the two previous Jurassic Park movies, this film is not based on a Michael Crichton novel, nor directed by Steven Spielberg, nor written by David Koepp, nor featuring original music by John Williams.
Several of the action sequences, such as the Pteranodon aviary and the Spinosaurus's river attack, were featured in the original Jurassic Park novel but due to budget and story concerns, were left out of the previous films.

Jurassic Park III [2001] - Review @ EOFFTV
Jurassic Park III had a lot riding on it - Jurassic Park [1993] had been a massive success, deservedly so and although its first sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park [1997] had enjoyed considerable financial success it was in every other respect a failure.
Jurassic Park III simply stops, the survivors escaping this year's featured dinosaur [of which, more in a moment] rather too easily, and the final shots suggest that an unholy battle royal between pteranadons and marines might be in the offing, but it disappointingly fails to materialise.
Jurassic Park had T-Rex, Lost World had is vicious velociraptors and Jurassic Park III's chief attraction is the monstrous spinosaurus, a creature so immense and brutal that it dwarfs the T-Rex it gets the better of in a disappointingly brief head-to-head encounter.

Jurassic Park III: Cinephiles Movie Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
Jurassic Park III, directed by Joe Johnston (Jumanji), revisits the genetically engineered family of raptors and tyrannosaurus, and introduces the more intimidating new members: the long-jawed Spinosaurus and the flying Pteranodon.
Jurassic Park III offers a simple story that takes the viewer into a Costa Rican island, the new home of the deadly monsters.
In spite of the mediocre special effects of its initial scenes (where shots of a plane or of a child gliding in the air are ineffectively juxtaposed against real backgrounds), the realism of the dinosaurs is heightened by fear-inspiring sound effects and by a camera that shoots from "dangerously close" angles.

This is the third time around for those wacky dinosaurs at Jurassic Park, although it is the first time without a Michael Crichton novel and director Steven Spielberg.
Although Jurassic Park III is better than Jurassic Park 2, it is still leagues away from approaching the first film.
Jurassic Park III won't do anything to expand the series, but does leave a nice hole for another sequel, one that is hopefully better.

Filmtracks: Jurassic Park III (Don Davis)
Jurassic Park III: (Don Davis) Eight years after John Williams' dynamic and thematic score for the original Jurassic Park stunned audiences with its sweeping majesty, the franchise of Jurassic Park continues on to a third installment.
In the end, though, the most impressive aspect of Davis' score is the careful interpretation of the two main Jurassic Park themes into his score for Jurassic Park 3, not to mention the statement of three or so subthemes of Williams', and an entirely new theme to represent the new characters.
Jurassic Park 3 often sounds flat in those performances, which is surprising, because its recording location was the Newman Scoring Stage at 20th Century Fox, where Jerry Goldsmith has recently recorded some of the best sounding scores of all time.

 DVD Review: Jurassic Park III
Overall though, "Jurassic Park 3" is well-acted, generally passably written (by "Election"'s Alexander Payne and two other writers) and offers up just what it says it will - 90 minutes of solid thrills, well-staged and consistently exciting.
The Making Of "Jurassic Park III": This 23 minute documentary is generally a rather superficial look at the making of the picture, as well as a bit of "history" about the two pictures leading up to this one.
New Dinosaurs of "Jurassic Park III": This is a short featurette that discusses the new dinosaur entries for this edition of the series, as well as some of the background and research that had to be done for the movie.

JURASSIC PARK III - COLLECTOR'S EDITION (WIDESCREEN) DVD
Jurassic Park III is completely critic proof, a smirking cash machine with its amplifiers turned to "11." That it happens to be an amazingly tight little film (every single element of its first half predicts a correlative in the second) doesn't excuse its bratty attitude.
Jurassic Park III would have been a fine movie had bitter wisenheimers like Payne and Taylor not been involved in the dialogue; their contempt is an unwelcome dash of self-knowledge in an environment where Herculean feats of disbelief suspension are the only refuge.
In "The New Dinosaurs of Jurassic Park", palaeontologist Jack Horner (not to be confused with Burt Reynolds' character in Boogie Nights) and the Jurassic Park III team spend seven minutes barely enlightening you about those dinosaurs making their Jurassic Park debut, the pteranodon and spino.

 Jurassic Park III
The Jurassic movies have by now palpably entered the plane of baldly profit-hunting, unpretentious entertainment—the same zone that the Rocky, Nightmare on Elm Street, Planet of the Apes, and other name-brand sagas began to occupy as original cast members and directors began their diasporas onto other projects.
Suffice it to say that Jurassic Park III is as frill-less, straightforward, and conservative as its title, which all in all is a fine thing.
Jurassic Park III clocks in at barely over 90 minutes, and professes even more terror of Tinkering With the Formula than it does of its Tyrannosaurus Rex—who, as a matter of fact, makes but a single appearance.

Yet Jurassic Park easily passed the biggest test of all dinosaur movies: the dinosaurs looked incredibly real (thanks to Stan Winston, Dennis Muren and Phil Tippet), and the film featured many thrilling scenes of the oversized beasties chomping down on unsuspecting humans (or even better, lawyers!).

What most of us want are dinosaurs, and there are just the right number of those here, from a flock of fierce pterodactyl-like pteranodons with mischievously knowing eyes, to the dreaded raptors (who always look to me as if they should be dangling old-lady pocketbooks from their disproportionately smallish, curled-over front claws).
