Justice League - DC Animated Universe - a Wikia wiki
The Justice League was founded after the Imperium invasion by the seven heroes who responded to the crisis.
The League, however, would not face its greatest challenge until the invasion of the Thanagarian military; not only was another alien force threatening Earth, but the League was also betrayed by one of their own.
The latter three characters were added to the team and included in an animated short used when the show was being pitched to Kids' WB since the executives wanted young heroes that the audience could identify with.

Krypto The Superdog: "Krypto's Scrypto": Cartoon Network Original Series Premiere Episode Review
The two “Justice League” animated series are pretty much for kids, teenagers, and adults of all ages while “Teen Titans” is geared toward a younger audience with an anime look to the characters.
Animation has grown so much in the last twenty years and Cartoon Network in my opinion has been a huge driving force in its evolution as a medium for both entertainment and education by expanding the canvass for artists to create.
The latest animated series to debut from Cartoon Network based on a D.C. Comics character is none other than “Krypto The Superdog.” Now this series is really geared toward young children, but if one fills in the blanks as an adult, I think the show can be very enjoyable and definitely cute to watch.

With most of the heavy hitters from the group already in the Justice League or Justice Society, the team was fairly incompetent and is not looked upon very well by the League.

Later in the second set of shows (which may or may not be Series 2), the writing team creates a strong story with the introduction of a government force that wants to stop the League, with funding from Superman’s arch nemesis, Lex Luthor.
They also tie up loose ends from the previous series, by handling Hawkgirl’s reintroduction into the League after she was revealed as a spy in Justice League Season 2.
While the seven lead characters aren’t well known outside of the DC animated universe, many of the villains and additional heroes are talented actors that come from a variety of TV shows and movies.

Synopsis: "Justice League Unlimited, the 'revamped' new season of Justice League, hits the ground running this weekend with 'Initiation,' a fast-moving, two-fisted tale that introduces the newly expanded League with a minimum of fuss and bother but a maximum of action.
Design-wise, the premiere episode probably won't shock viewers: the Leaguers all look pretty much unchanged (though Green Lantern has shaved his head and added a moustache and goatee), and there don't seem to be any revolutionary alterations in the animation or modeling.
Merchandise involving DC's new animated series, Justice League Unlimited and The Batman, was previewed at Comic-Con, including action figures from Mattel and maquettes from DC Direct.
