John Stewart, an African-American, is the Green Lantern here, instead of Kyle Rayner who carries that mantle in JLA, either as a nod to multiculturalism or as a statement about the similarity of Rayner's character to that of the Flash.
The Martian Manhunter is able to show his sensitive side in the second issue as he learns a similar lesson: that he doesn't need to feel alone, that he doesn't need to set himself apart from humanity just because he feels like he's different.

Justice League Adventures #1 (SEP010221, $1.99) -- written by Ty Templeton and illustrated by Min S. Ku and Dan Davis -- will introduce the animated team of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern John Stewart, Hawkgirl, and the Flash in the first of the series' stand-alone stories.
With a cover pencilled by series co-creator Bruce Timm and painted by Alex Ross, Justice League Adventures #1 is set to ship on November 14.

Having gotten hooked on the Justice League cartoon series earlier this year, I wasn't too surprised when I found it had a comic counterpart.
The entire Justice League is attending a funeral for the parents of a young boy named Danny (and strangely, aside from the boy and his aunt they are the only ones there).
Since none of the faiths are acceptable, the League decides to tell young Danny what he needs to hear, that even though they have super powers the members of the Justice League are flawed, and that no one is perfect.

While fans of the Justice League show and Justice League Adventures comic book will be overjoyed, this cast a serious shadow of doubt on the prospects of a long awaited "Super Friends" videogame featuring the Wonder Twins, Apache Chief and Black Falcon.
Justice League is the modern day equivalent of that long running animated show from the 1970s.
