Against the Billikens, the Irish were led by senior Justin Detter, who began the scoring with a 12-yard shot past Saint Louis goalkeeper Martin Hutton in the 49th minute.
Detter combined with senior Devon Prescod on Notre Dame's second goal at 78:21.
Prescod and Detter were aggressive all evening for Notre Dame, as they accounted for seven of Notre Dame's 10 shots on goal.

Kansas City would pull within a goal early in the second half as forward Justin Detter challenged the Tulsa goalkeeper in a one-on-one outside the top of the box.
The goalkeeper came off his line and Detter faked a shot sending the 'keeper cowering to the ground and Detter was able to easily sidestep him and softly place a shot across the goalline.
Detter was impressive all evening as he played in his first competative match since undergoing two offseason surgeries on his adductor & abdominal muscles.

Chellemi quickly found Detter dashing across the far right wing, where Detter took the pass and kicked the ball into the right side of the goal for his second score of the game.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (October 25, 2003) - Senior forward Justin Detter scored twice and junior Chris Sawyer made eight saves after allowing an early goal as the 13th-ranked Notre Dame men's soccer team clinched a BIG EAST Tournament spot with Saturday night's 2-1 overtime win at No. 9 Virginia Tech.
Detter scored his second overtime goal of the season in the seventh minute of extra play, cashing in a breakaway chance with a chip over charging goalkeeper Chase Harrison for the 22nd goal of his Notre Dame career and seventh game-winner.
Detter had notched his seventh goal of the season in the early moments, taking a pass from junior defender Kevin Goldthwaite and beating Harrison for the 1-0 lead (6:40).
