Broken Social Scene drummer dishes on hip hop, Toronto, and touring   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-08-23)
Justin Peroff is the drummer for Toronto’s Broken Social Scene, a massive indie rock group with a sound to match that has been riding the hype wave since the 2003 release of their Juno Award-winning album You Forgot It in People.
I asked Peroff about the difficulties of being in a group with so many members, hip hop’s influence (or lack thereof) on the band, and whatever else I managed to e-mail to Broken Social Scene’s publicist.
Justin Peroff: After three years of touring [for] the last record I would think any other outlet would be refreshing to pursue.

Review and photo by Vanessa C. The show was billed as "Jason Collett with members of Broken Social Scene".
Whether it was a last-minute change of personnel or simply a miscommunication, what we got was Collett wearing a T-shirt with an iron-on picture of BSS's drummer Justin Peroff.
He apologized for the advertising miscommunication, and took off his sweater to reveal his T-shirt, which he claimed Peroff had given him for Christmas.

In Music We Trust - Broken Social Scene: You Forgot It In People
A candidate for album of the year (and a likely choice for winner, too), Toronto, Canada's Broken Social Scene, and their sophomore release, You Forgot It In People (Arts & Crafts), deliver a truly divine experience, putting other atmospheric and mood-oriented albums to shame.
At the helm of this 10-piece collective is Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, whose friends Jason Collett, Andrew Whiteman, Justin Peroff, Leslie Feist, Charles Spearin, Evan Cranley (Stars), James Shaw, and Emily Haines (Metric) joined to fill out the line-up.
Together, the band creates a masterpiece in You Forgot It In People, a sprawling record of layered instrumentation that nestle well alongside airy melodies, swimming vocals that breathe with the same life as the more instrumental tracks, and primal beats that charter their own course alongside their lush counterparts.
