Frischmann's optimistic lust for Elastica's new lease on life is tempered only by her memories of what happened in the past and the fear that it could happen again.

Perhaps spurred by the (fairly successful) return of former bandmate Donna Matthews' Klang project, former Elastica leader Justine Frischmann pops her head up for her first vocal appearance in some time.
The song itself is cluttered, muscular electro-pop, a passable companion to Goldfrapp Mk II that demonstrates Frischmann retains her gift for sharp hooks.
Were she to do so, she might notice the roots of both this and Klang in Elastica's Peel Session track "I Want You"-- and come to the realization that Elastica's past is still most colored by missed opportunities.

Following the dispiriting critical and commercial reception to their long-delayed second album, Elastica has decided to throw in the towel.
There are any number of reasons for Elastica to qualify as one of the most exceptional bands to come out of the U.K. in the last five years.
For starters, their self-titled debut (out here March 15) is an exhilarating blast of catchy, guitar-driven, post-punk rock inspired by, according to cheerfully mouthy frontwoman Justine Frischmann, "Records like (Blondie's) Parallel Lines and Rattus Norvegicus (The Stranglers) and Scary Monsters (David Bowie) - things my big brother left behind when he moved on to CDs."
