JuttaRabe is a German journalist who worked for the German magazine Der Spiegel for a number of years.
Her book, Die Estonia: Tragödie eines Schiffsuntergangs (ISBN 3768812677, ISBN 3768814602), about the alleged cover-up of the true cause of the 1994 M/S Estonia passenger ferry disaster, was made into the film Baltic Storm (2003).
In the summer of 2000, Sweden issued an arrest warrant against Rabe for violating the sanctity of the shipwreck, in violation of the Estonia Agreement of 1995, barring her from entering Sweden or risk prosecution.
Rabe herself will be taking part in the expedition, but will not say which country's coast they will embark from.
Both Bemis and Rabe question the findings of the Estonian, Finnish, and Swedish joint commission, according to which the sinking of the Estonia off the south coast of Finland in 1994, in which 852 people were killed, was caused by the opening of the bow door visor.
"Rabe is holding talks on the sale of the rights to the documentary with all who will negotiate with her", said Bemis from his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Rabe, a German TV-journalist, has been investigating the Estonia catastrophe since the day of the sinking when she flew to Finland to interview survivors.
