Seymour Guado (formal titles Maester Seymour Guado or Lord Seymour) is a fictional character in the video game Final Fantasy X of the Final Fantasy series.
Seymour is the leader of the Guado, a race of humanoids in the world of Spira.
After his dying mother, in order to ensure her son would be 'strong' against the prejudice of being a half-breed, gave her life to become a fayth for the Aeon Anima, Seymour's young mind snapped and he began to believe that death is the only way hatred and suffering can truly ever end.
Although as the lord of the Guado, the marriage between JyscalGuado and human woman was unheard of.
Jyscal would still swear his heart skipped a beat upon hearing those words, already he could feel adrenaline coursing though his veins, preparing him for what would be said next.
Jyscal nodded silently; the impact of his words stunning him like a blow to the head.
He is half human and half Guado, and the son of former Maester JyscalGuado.
Seymour was born from the leader of the Guado, JyscalGuado, and a human woman in an attempt to foster friendship between the Guado and human races.
It is later revealed that the sphere showed Jyscal, who knew he was going to be killed by his own son, urging whomever later watched the sphere to stop his son from fulfilling his evil ambitions.
They were converted to the Yevon religion under their leader, JyscalGuado (later appointed a Maester of Yevon), but were soon led down a path of ruin by Jyscal's own son, Seymour, who learned and exploited the true nature of Yevon to deadly ends.
After Sin was destroyed, the Guado fled to the dying Macalania Woods after learning that many of the other races of Spira (especially the Ronso) despise them for what they did under Seymour's leadership.
But (if the player makes the right choice), the Guado are soothed by the spirit-lifting music of the Macalania musicians, and gain the confidence to return to their home under the leadership of Tromell Guado, the former personal aide to Jyscal and Seymour, and gain a new reason to live.
The primary antagonists of Final Fantasy X are Seymour Guado and the other maesters of the Yevon religion, while the malevolent creature known as "Sin" serves as the primary source of conflict.
In order to avoid further strife amongst the Guado nation, Jyscal had his wife and son exiled to the island of Baaj.
Yuna was soon kidnapped on Bikanel Island by a Guado attack squad sent by Seymour to decimate the Al Bhed's base, Home.
The Ronso youth (led by Garik) are itching to fight the Guado, and Kimahri has his hands full keeping them at bay.
He became the maester of the Guado by killing his father, Lord Jyscal, and amazingly, no one seems to care.
Assuming the Guado don't get slaughtered, the other mystical Macalania residents save him with their music, and he accepts the responsibility of leading the Guado, returning them to Guadosalam and restoring relations with the Ronso.
The Guado punched his human companion lightly on the shoulder as the man whistled, then put on what had to be his straightest face and said, “Greetings, citizens of Bevelle.
Jyscal and Kinoc looked slightly taken aback at this direct approach, then Jyscal palpably mustered his courage and replied, “I have heard rumors you and your friend are from the famed sinu jindo, Sine Helka Vor.
Jyscal looked at their signatures and, apparently satisfied, tilted his helmet in a gesture of respect and gracefully stepped out of the apartment.
Seymour, one of the Masesters of Yevon and also a Guado man, asks Yuna for her hand in marriage.
Yuna wants to do it to bring happiness to the people of Spira, but at the same time, she does only want to marry for love, which she would not feel if she was with Seymour.
Yuna contemplates the whole thing for awhile until she finds a sphere from Lord Jyscal, Seymour's father, as he comes out of the farplane for an instant.
