		In the fictional Star Trek universe, K'mpec (kImpec) was a former chancellor of the Klingon Empire.
		K'mpec had also known Mogh, father of Worf and Kurn, and had served with him in the past.
		K'mpec knew it was one of two men who would seek that office after he died, namely Gowron or Duras.

		K'mpec feared that exposing Duras would plunge the Empire into civil war, so he gave his support to Duras's accusation that the late Mogh be blamed for the disaster over the objections of Worf, son of Mogh.
		K'mpec agreed to allow Worf to accept discommendation, sparing Worf the sentence of death and protecting the Empire from the scandal of having the revelation in open council.
		K'mpec was murdered in 2367, apparently poisoned with Veridium Six by Duras, who sought to succeed K'mpec as council leader.

	Klingon starships - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The largest Klingon vessel seen on Star Trek so far excepting the Negh'Var-class ships and several alternate-universe Klingon vessels, it could match the Federation Galaxy class ship in fighting capability, although it is considerably smaller.
		It was first seen as the command ship of Chancellor Kmpec in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Sins of the Father".
		Although a massive ship for most missions, it is the battlecruiser mainstay of the Klingon fleet and has mostly phased out the aging D and Ktinga class cruisers, the latter of which are still used as support vessels in a fleet.

		The IKC K'mpec is the most recent among these designs.
		The main design goal was to combine the maneuverability of the Bird-of-Prey with the firepower and endurance of the larger battlecruisers.
		The K'mpec is supposed to be a match for the Defiant, however, it is probably less maneuverable.
