KABC-TV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In December 2000 KABC-TV abandoned its longtime Hollywood studios to moved to a new state of the art facility in nearby Glendale, a short distance from ABC and Walt Disney Company headquarters at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California.
During the 1970s and 1980s, KABC was one of a few stations in the country to run a full 3-hour block of news from 4pm-7pm.
KABC has used the famous "Circle 7" logo for many years, and augmented its bottom left quadrant with the ABC network logo in 1997.

 The Vent #458
But regardless of market size, there is still far too much fluff cluttering up local TV news, and if Los Angeles' tales seem worse, it may be due simply to the sheer enormity of the operations — KABC's afternoon news runs three hours, not including Peter Jennings on the network.
KABC's on-air ombudsman took vehement exception to this stunt, even in the red face of a defense by the station's general manager.
KNBC edged KABC for the top spot in the afternoon news ratings, and both KNBC and third-place KCBS far surpassed KABC in the perennial quest for local Emmy awards.

I think LA TV news looked at this the way state legislators used to look at the onetime weak laws against drunken driving...."there but for the grace of God, go I." From what I've seen, KTLA's Eric Spillman is the only reporter over the months who treated this story objectively.
I am glad to see that KABC did cover the story, though most of their coverage had the anchor reading a long statement from GM Arnold Kleiner.

 ABC Studios
Although NBC Studios (in the Valley) and CBS TV City (in Hollywood) both invite the public in to watch live tapings as members of a live studio audience, that's not the case with ABC.
Current plans call for KABC to build a new 100,000-foot studio in Burbank soon (near its parent corporation, Disney), which should be ready sometime in 2000.
ABC does not offer a guided tour of the studio, and it is not open to the public, which is a shame, considering the studio's record in broadcasting, and the history of its east Hollywood studio.

ABC states that its discovery obligations are not permitted by "the Commission's Section 315(b) procedures," and, therefore, adherence to them would cause KABC to irreparably lose its legal rights.
