Nwankwo Kanu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nwankwo Kanu (born August 1, 1976 in Owerri, Nigeria), usually known simply as Kanu, is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for the Nigerian national team and for the English club Portsmouth.
However, Kanu's appearances for Arsenal gradually became less frequent, particularly after the emergence of Thierry Henry as Arsenal's first choice striker, when Kanu was mainly used as a substitute.
Despite this, Kanu won the Double with Arsenal in 2002, an FA Cup in 2003 (as an unused sub) and the Premier League title in 2004.

ESPN.com Soccernet England: News - Kanu needs to shake off his Arsenal anonymity
When Kanu woke at his palatial north London home this morning and looked in the mirror, he might have been tempted to ask himself what has happened to his career.
This was the Kanu of Louis van Gaal's Champions League-winning Ajax side in 1995, who had lit up the Atlanta Olympic tournament a year later, before detection of the heart condition that required major surgery.
Kanu's desire to establish his heart foundation charity appears to have become an excuse for his lack of focus on the gift that made it all possible.

The confusion in Kanu was compounded by the fact that it’s splinter, New Kenya, was being officially launched by former powerful minister Nicholas Biwott, in the city as Uhuru faced journalists.
Muturi’s sentiments added to the confusion facing Kanu rank and file as they started to come to terms with the possible demise of the party that has been part and parcel of Kenyan politics since it came to the scene on June 11, 1960 when it was registered as a mass political party.
One of his closest allies and Kanu official Mr Dalmas Otieno said "Uhuru was in the meeting right through the discussions and he must have been convinced but the decision to go into the ODM-Kenya party was made by Kanu as a party and not by Uhuru as a person".
