KCMP (89.3 FM, "The Current") is a radio station owned by Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) that broadcasts an eclectic music format including a significant rotation of songs by local artists.
The KCMP "anti-format" was announced in mid-December 2004, along with the station's new program director, Steve Nelson, and music director, Thorn Skroch (usually known simply as Thorn).
The call sign KCMP had no special meaning other than the fact that it rhymes with "eighty-nine three." The station's first day of broadcasting was well-received by local music lovers.

A review of the 2003 and 2004 KCMP data reveals that some collaboration occurs between the school district and Part C (First Steps) providers to ensure that all Part B eligible students are identified and served by their third (3rd) birthday.
According to 2003-04 KCMP data: -Two race/ethnicity subgroups of student with disabilities fall outside the acceptable range of proportionality (FAPE1.1); -Two or more disability categories are disproportionate with district general student enrollment (FAPE 1.2); and -The percentage of time students with disabilities spent in the regular education environment is significantly disproportionate with the district data.
According to the 2003-04 KCMP data, the successful transition rate is low for students with disabilities based in part to not well developed and implemented IGP’s in the area of projected course of study for students 14 and older.

I had to go and replace about 20 light bulbs to get it to work, and then there were a few faulty ones that took a long time for my dad to track down with a tester.
Hopefully there will be some differentiation, though KCMP will have a definite advantage over the community stations since they have a 100kW transmitter, just like the big boys of commercial radio (even though it's located in/near Northfield, which is on the southern edge of the metro area).
So, KCMP is trying to be the new Rev (with more wattage than they ever had).

While the KCMP has utilized “volunteer” mentors over the years to work individually with artists on a variety of issues, the KCMP is pleased to announce it’s first paid Mentor Program.
The KCMP Mentor Program is comprised of veteran juried craft and art businesses of the Kentucky Arts Council’s Programs - Craft Marketing and Visual Arts at the Market, who have received consultancy training through the Kentucky Peer Advisor Network.
KCMP staff serves as an intermediary and may be contacted at any point by either the mentor or mentoree.

KCMP launched yesterday at 9am and with high hopes for this new station, I have to say, I’ve thouroughly enjoyed the first few hours I’ve been able to listen to.
Have a look for yourself at their recent playlist, and you will surely see some of the music I have tried to push on my friends and family in the past.
Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) told its staff Thursday that the new KCMP will present a diverse musical mix that targets “listeners who have grown up in the digital generation” — read: younger ears — with an emphasis on local artists.

Further data are needed that demonstrate that the revisions KDE made to the KCMP as reported to OSEP in the August 6, 2004 letter ensure that all Part B requirements are monitored and all violations of those requirements are identified and corrected in a timely manner (i.e., within one year of identification).
Because the new KCMP is being implemented in school year 2004-2005, KDE has not submitted data and analysis demonstrating that the noncompliance the State identified in its December 2001 Self-Assessment has been corrected.
