Unconfirmed reports have indicated that Hawaii's UPN station, KFVE TV will be switching over to the Warner Bros. Network.
The station has started airing promos for shows like "Dawson's Creek" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." According to my sources, KFVE will still be a UPN station until their contract with the network expires in 2001, at which time the station will be converting to WB full time.

Kind of ironic since at one point in the past KFVE was doing both WB and UPN shows.
It would be nice if they did but I suspect KFVE's airing of sports events might preempted CW network shows more frequently if the CW network has more shows to air then just what WB did.
Some of the shows don't sound like they'll be anything but guilty pleasures, but hell, other networks have made their fortunes on such outings.

Don't be too suprised that KHNL/KFVE uses the two channels as conditions for Oceanic to carry the HD channels.
I am not sure if they show wrestling (which might be the only thing worth watching in HD,) but other than that, movies are reruns from years past that weren't even shot in HD so this would have to be converted with fat faces.
And yes, there are KFVE folks who work some of these national shows too because of their skills.

KFVE has filled the timeslot with an hour long, syndicated show for weekdays and other programming on weekends.
KFVE TV aired their special Friday night consisting largely of clips from their Hot Hawaiian Nights TV show, interviews with close associates, and IZ's last public performance with the Makaha Sons at last year's Na Hoku Hanohano awards, which airs yearly on KFVE.

The program is part of the department’s efforts to recruit applicants for 48 vacancies for police officers and at least five vacancies for police dispatchers, said Sgt. Jamie Becraft, MPD recruiter.
Burkhart volunteered his time to produce the video, interviewing officers, including Chief Tom Phillips and Deputy Chief Kekuhaupio Akana, and also filming dispatchers and officers responding to emergency calls.

Under a new alliance between KFVE and AOL Time Warner's Oceanic Cablevision, games that were shown on cable only to neighbor island viewers will also be made available to Oahu viewers -- Oahu is home to four of five Hawaii residents -- at a premium fee of $12.95 per game.
UH will get 70 percent of the revenue from those fees until it has earned an additional $700,000 a year from them, then 30 percent of any additional fees.
