KHNL - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
KHNL is the licensed broadcast affiliate of the National Broadcasting Company in Hawaii.
Based in Honolulu, KHNL first broadcast from Channel 13 on July 4, 1962 under the call letters KTRG from a transmitter atop the Hawaiian Village Hotel in Waikiki.
KHNL is also seen on cable channel 8 on Oceanic Cable, which is why they refer to themselves on-air as "NBC Hawaii News8" or "NBC8" instead of their regular over-the-air channel position.

I don't have complaints against KGMB news but I really don't like KHNL in terms of them using the wooshing sound effects when they flash a screen with the name of an island that the next news piece is about.
Another thing I can't understand about KHNL is why they need to send an anchor to report news from their "satellite center" when they have on-going news that is from the mainland.

Fink doesn't have a single prized possession; he is equally fond of all his cherished mementos, including a feather lei given to him by "the aunties" at the UH volleyball games and a complete collection of NHL hockey pucks, which he admits is an unusual thing to collect in Hawaii.
