	KKFR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		KKFR is a wildly successful Rhythmic Contemporary Hit Radio outlet in the Phoenix, Arizona radio market.
		KKFR flipped from a Country music format in 1985 to start out as a gold-based Top 40 outlet, but over the years they began shifting towards a Rhythmic/Dance music mix.
		In addition to its music mix, KKFR also has a personality-driven airstaff, high profile mixers and a top-notch street team.

	KKFR Photos
		KKFR's programming from our studios on 1st Avenue in downtown Phoenix is fed via T1 Digital Lines (Main) and Microwave (Backup) to this location on the mountain.
		The signal from KKFR is fed through special cables into this filter, then out to the antennas.
		KKFR's audio comes into these equipment racks where it is processed for transmission.

		Another battle between KKFR 92.3, KOY 95.5, and KZZP 104.7 was waged in the early 90s.
		Today it's only KKFR and KZZP that are top-40, and they are both Rhythmic CHRs.
		Although KVIB 95.1 might be involved, they only hit part of the area (largely the northwest Valley), so they have yet to prove to be a factor.

		According to Jim Duncan's American Radio, which tracks station billing, the combo of KKFR and KFYI grossed $12.9 million in 1997 -- 10.4 percent of the market.
		KKFR's success followed a good deal of persistence, with tweaking of the format in response to competition, but generally keeping an eye on hit music for younger listeners.
		KFYI made a big splash with its conservative approach early on, but it didn't really take off until Limbaugh got on the air in May 1991.

		I’m coming off my first single “Hit da Scene” (first track on the cd you have) which did very well for me here in Phoenix (top 15 record callout and number 2 amoung females for around 6 weeks).
		It peaked at a B category record at KKFR...

	Danny Bonaduce
		In 1990, while working as a disc jockey on KKFR in Phoenix, the station set him up on a publicity stunt/blind date with Gretchen Hillmer.
		Bonaduce's legal punishment was probation, but his professional punishment was that KKFR fired him.
		Bonaduce quickly moved on to stations in progressively bigger markets, and is now working out of Los Angeles, where his radio show is syndicated to several other stations around the country.
