KKJZ is the No. 1 rated jazz station in the country, and the only full-time station in the Los Angeles area broadcasting mainstream acoustic jazz.
KKJZ is also affiliated with KUOR-FM, which is based at the University of Redlands, expanding CSULB's publicity to Riverside and San Bernardino, also an important source of independent local news.
KKJZ is one of the top five radio stations in Internet listening, as well as being one of only five U.S. radio stations broadcast in Japan, and is also broadcast to 3 million military personnel on Armed Forces Radio.

His employment was a boon to the station and helped cement what would become KJAZZ as one of the nation's most popular jazz and blues stations.
KKJZ Station Manager Sean Heitkemper said, "Chuck Niles was to jazz lovers what Chick Hearn was to Lakers' fans.
KKJZ will continue for the next several days to pay tribute to Niles with classic interviews, broadcasts and his favorite music.

Edit: I only found out today (checking the KKJZ site) that Tracy's last name was Neidel, and only commented on it because I think identifying people by their proper names is important.
You confining it to KKJZ is a joke.
Like I said before, move on, KKJZ is going in a direction that suits the type of audience they want and you are not it.

While Roberts is lobbying to change the CPB policy—he believes it unfairly penalizes stations in older buildings—he doesn’t deny that KKJZ goofed in reporting its NFFS.

I also understated that on June 15th you were 25 to 30 minutes late to your shift and on June 22 you arrived only a few minutes before your air shift was to begin.
As you are aware, KKJZ has a policy that hosts are to be at the station approximately 1 hour before their shift starts.
KKJZ is very lucky to have such an excellent group of knowledgeable jazz program hosts.

Two months later, between Mar. 9 to 12, KKJZ went on-air with a "mini fund drive" for the "signal campaign" with an eye toward a March 14 power increase.
Even though the KKJZ website is turning away some potential ticket-buyers by stating, "there are currently no tickets for sale at KKJZ events," as of early May, general admission tickets to the festival were still available through Ticketmaster.
But KKJZ was the big ratings winner, its weekly cume shooting up from 283,000 to almost 324,000 listeners, nearly a 15 percent jump into third place, basicaly tied with classical KUSC out of the University of Southern California, which slipped from 347,000 to 325,000 listeners.

Niles died March 15 at Santa Monica Hospital from complications of a stroke he suffered Feb. 26, longtime friend Judy Jankowski said.
Niles is credited with making KKJZ one of the top jazz stations in the country, she said.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Neidel, and daughter Tracy Neidel.

KKJZ has made some changes, particularly in the wake of the death of Chuck Niles, who was wonderful.
I saw one of the local east LB paper stories talking about administrative salaries at KKJZ -- this was within a story about nearly the entire news department getting let go.
He was playing something that I don't normally hear on KKJZ when I tuned in.

Chuck Niles, the only jazz radio host with a star on Hollywood Boulevard, has died.
His boss, KKJZ general manager Judy Jankowski says Niles died Monday night at Santa Monica Hospital.
Niles was also known as "Be-Bop Charlie", which was the name of a jazz tune written about him.

Field testing began in August for the so-called "Tomorrow Radio" project on four FM stations: KALW in San Francisco, KKJZ in Long Beach, Calif., WETA in Washington and WNYC in New York.
Mike Starling, NPR vice president of engineering and operations, hoped to submit the report to the DAB Subcommittee of the National Radio Systems Committee at its Oct. 1 meeting at the NAB Radio Show in Philadelphia.
