To be candid, there are situations whereby the tower is underperforming, or there is possible risk to the lease should the landowner choose not to accept the reduction.
It is partially our own fault that zoning ordinances are what they are- we built towers anywhere we pleased in the late 80s and early 90s, failed to collocate when we should have in the mid to late 90s, and then faced the repercussions years later when planning boards wised up.

I believe KLDE's studios used to be in the building off of W Alabama and Rice (where the Roxy is) I remember going there a few nights and seeing their vans on the second level parking.
Don't forget KLDE's transmitter was originally on a Missouri City stick at 94.5 mhz until Cox took ownership from Clear Channel in 2000.
You're right about KLDE being on Alabama when it was on 94.5; I'd forgotten about that.

The application includes a "new transmitter location," which turns out to be just a few feet north of the existing tower on South Sea Avenue in West Yarmouth.
No word on the fate of little class D noncomm WIRQ (94.3) at Irondequoit High School, which faces being bumped from a third frequency, after moving from 90.9 in the early 80s and then from 93.3 in the early 90s.

A lot of the older ones, like Hermann and the Medical Towers, are pretty nice, as is Pelli's St Lukes.
Still, the TMC does have a few buildings with nice architecture, like the St Lukes tower by Pelli, the new UT SONSCC, the upcoming Prarie View Nursing school, etc. Stuff that's more modern, unlike the "sugarland esque" stuff that most of the MDA buildings look like.

In the US 11M antenna structures cannot be more than 60 feet or something like that.
Whether or not that applies to existing towers I'm not certain.
I know an amateur radio antenna can be as high as you want if it is on an existing tower but no more than 200 feet otherwise.
