A cluster of towers rise over the east side of the I-435 loop near where it crosses I-70 (and not far from the Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium and the Royals' Kaufman Stadium).
KMIZ also operates Fox LPTV K11SN and a cable-only WB affiliate, but it's outspent and outrated by the two big VHF stations in the market, which we'll see in a bit.
KMIZ and most of the FM stations are north of town, and we're not headed that way.

I have a 45 ft tower, and a rotor.
And if KMIZ's owners had a few million bucks lying around and were just itching to provide a HD Fox signal to the market, the only way they could do it would be with a SECOND full-power station, which the current Fox and UPN OTA channels are not.
It doesn't seem that KMIZ is going to do anything, since it appears they don't believe anything is wrong.

Prost Builders Inc. recently accepted the 2006 Preserve Missouri Award, given by Missouri Preservation in honor of the restoration of the Marquette Tower in Cape Girardeau.
Formerly a hotel, the Marquette Tower was converted into commercial and office space by Prost Builders and others.
Prost Builders, a historical design builder and developer with offices in Jefferson City and Columbia, is now working on a major historical restoration and development project in Springfield.

Be that the case, most VHF stations will most likely keep their VHF channel assignment and give up the less efficient UHF frequency, simply, in many cases, for electricity costs.
KMIZ has the transmitter in place and should be transmitting when their antenna shows up.
Getting tower crews and material shipped is very difficult and sometimes slow.

 OTA digital issue for WYOU 22-1 and WBRE 28-1 - SatelliteGuys.US
It is most likely the combination of signal blocked by the geography between the towers and your home and using your uhf antenna to receive vhf.
I even picked up a weaker UHF digital (KMIZ) that is further away.
The discrepency could be corrected by additional power on channels 2-6, but that can't happen until after the analogs are switched off or the higher power DTV stations will interfere with analog reception.
