Two shorter towers may be a better option the one taller one, for example, or a higher tower might not be useful if the signal is blocked by terrain nor if all the listeners are in a concentrated area and a higher tower cannot pay for itself.

List of masts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A mast is a man-made support structure, commonly used on sailing ships as support for sails, or on land as radio masts and towers used to support telecommunication equipment such as radio antennas ("aerials" in the UK).
Most of the taller masts are located in the United States, where a prevalence of masts of around 2000 feet (609.6 m) in height is the result of special rules in that country limiting structures and objects taller than 2000 feet.

I'm not quite as optimistic after finding out the tower is 73 miles away as opposed to the 45 that I thought it would be.
The last I saw, the tower was topped out at something like 1600 feet and they were planning on resuming broadcasting from the tower in August.
I wrote KPLC an email late today to see when they would be at maximum power but maybe they already are.

Top masts are ranked by pinnacle height; in the case of a tie, the older structure is ranked as higher.
Once again, the list includes guyed masts, almost exclusively radio masts, though a few for other purposes are present (for example, the BREN-Tower.) Self-supporting masts are covered as towers under the List of towers, and the borderline cases are mentioned separately (hybrid designs, under water, etc.) elsewhere on this page.

KPLC'S new tower is adjacent to the old one which must be un-stacked when construction is complete on the new one...according to KPLC the new tower will support both the analog antenna and the digital antenna.
In my case I found in order to receive KPLC reliably I had to point my vhf/ufh combo antenna and the 4228 in the same direction, using one or the other just didn't quite do it, you are a few miles further west than me so you should be in good shape.
