KPMG Consulting Inc. on Monday said it would buy former parent KPMG Internationaland#039;s Swiss, Austrian and German consulting units for $685 million, in a long-expected move designed to establish its presence in Europe.
KPMG Consulting, which was spun off from accounting firm KPMG in 2000, had been openly looking to bring back into its fold the European consulting units that chose to remain with the accounting firm during the separation.
KPMG Consulting shares displayed modest enthusiasm for the deal, rising 0.99 percent, or $0.15, to $15.30 a share in morning trade on the Nasdaq.
