  CSIndy: News Story Reignites School Closure Issue in District 11 (November 16 - November 22, 2000)
The furor was prompted by a KRDO Channel 13 news story that showed D-11 board member Sherry Butcher and interim Superintendent Norm Ridder saying that passage of the mil levy doesn't guarantee that "inefficient and ineffective" schools won't be closed.
Ridder believes the KRDO flap to be an extension of the February furor.
Butcher complains that she was interviewed by KRDO's Barron Pittinger, but the story was edited and produced by Tak Landrock, to whom she has never spoken.

KRDO's Rose said the only time he can remember that might compare was the early 1980s when KOAA switched its focus from Pueblo to Colorado Springs.
Clear Channel's country station KCCY (96.9 FM) is No. 1 in the ratings, while the once-dominating country station KKCS (104.5 FM) fired its staff and announced that the station was for sale on Friday, so there appears to be an opening for a new competitor in the category.

The Tigers are in the semifinals, Colorado Springs is a huge hockey town and KRDO has held the rights (and therefore the commitment and the responsibility) to air CC hockey games for a decade.
Adding to the suspicion that KRDO was pulling a fast one was the FOX logo that appeared at the top of the ABC affiliate's screen, which led many to surmise that the hockey game was also being aired locally on FOX Channel 21.
They even suspected that KRDO had edited out the best parts of the show, and were also offended by the late-night "you, too, can be born-again" TV advertisements that are common to, well, late-night TV.

The DTV in my area comes in in the mid to lower 80s with the exception of KRDO 13, which is 49% then locks in around 61%.
KRDO is early in their DTV rollout and does not simulcast any HD at this time.
I called KRDO and was told that they are testing at low power and would increase to full power and begin HD simulcasting around 2-3rd quarter 2005.

On Aug. 14, KRDO (1240 AM) and KSKX (105.5 FM) will begin simulcasting a mix of news and talk, featuring local morning and afternoon news shows and contributions from KRDO/Channel 13's reporters and anchors.
KRDO (1240 AM), which is currently a sports talk station, and KSKX, which plays jazz, were sold by Pikes Peak Broadcasting to the News-Press & Gazette company of St. Joseph, Mo., along with TV stations KRDO/Channel 13 and KJCT/Channel 8 in Grand Junction.
Pikes Peak Broadcasting's third radio station, KRDO (95.1 FM), was sold to Citadel Broadcasting and is now "Cat Country." Lewis said they will try to get the KRDO call letters back to rebrand KSKX.

I have been in touch with the PR director for KRDO and he says that "ABC is not making the content available to all of is stations." Yet on offical AVs list under the cities that ABC HD does go to, there are tons smaller places than here that have it.
Let's keep calling JR at KRDO Engineering, since they are supposedly pretty close and are working on the last few pieces of going HD.
At least KRDO is getting in the headend equipment which is a step in the right direction.

I'm glad to see KRDO-DT at full strength, because as I understand it the power bill for a full-power DTV signal is very expensive.
KRDO update - In addition to the full signal strength SD DTV signal, I notice that guide data is showing up and Dolby Digital is being sent along with the signal.
I'm not nearly as worked up about KRDO as I used to be...

KRDO and KOAA would have to give permission which they would never do because fewer people would see their local commercials.
Interesting that KRDO is still on zoomed 4:3, cutting off top and bottom, at the moment.
Also, I assume that KRDO will work on the Dolby Digital 5.1 feed in the coming weeks - the NY channel has it and KRDO doesn't today.
